What you need to know about how to prepare for the food photography craze
When you think of food photography, the first thing you probably think of is the photo booth at a sushi restaurant.
But what if you were going to a restaurant for lunch or dinner, and were looking for an opportunity to photograph a menu that was not being shared on social media?
“We want to create a conversation around food,” says Katie Lepp, the chief marketing officer of Food for Thought.
Lepp says the company was founded in 2016, and that the first Food for Truths were produced in late 2018.
The company also offers a “Food for Thought” app for Apple and Google Android devices.
“We’re using food photography as a medium to bring awareness to what’s happening in our community,” Lepp says.
There are currently 1,800 Food for thought events around the world.
For those looking for more information, Lepp advises that it’s best to contact the company directly.
“If you’re looking to take a photo, there are more than enough resources online that you can go to,” she says.
Lepp said that there are two main types of food images she’s excited about: food photography and food culture.
“I think food photography is the way to go, and food photography culture is the other way around,” Leppe says.
“You want to take food photography photos that highlight what’s in the restaurant and what’s on the menu.”
Lepp also offers some tips for food photography professionals: “I think that the more you do it, the more excited you will be, the closer you will get to actually getting your picture taken.
We can go in the kitchen, we can eat together, we eat in restaurants,” Lepps says.”
Food is the perfect medium to take photos of food.
We can go in the kitchen, we can eat together, we eat in restaurants,” Lepps says.

Food for thought is also using social media to reach out to restaurants to offer free food during the event.
This is also a great time to try out your food photography skills.
“I don’t want to just take a picture of a plate,” Leppa says.
“There are so many things that you could do in your kitchen, and there’s so much fun to be had,” she adds.
