How to stop your family from using your iPhone in public without your permission
In my previous article titled How to Stop Your Family From Using Your iPhone in Public Without Your Permission, I gave you the tools to protect your family.
Now, we’re going to share the methods that you can use to stop this dangerous behavior.1.
Disconnect your iPhone from your network.
If your iPhone is connected to a wireless network and you’re not going to use it, disable the feature.
If you want to use your phone for texting, it’s best to set it to voicemail.2.
Check to see if your phone is connected.
Make sure your iPhone can be seen on a nearby table, and if it’s not, disconnect it.3.
Turn off the network.
Go to Settings > Cellular and make sure the network is on.4.
Disable your phone’s network.
Turn the iPhone off by holding down the Home button for five seconds and then turning it on.5.
Unplug the phone.
Plug it into a USB port on your computer or a USB-C port on a computer, or any USB-A port.6.
If necessary, remove the battery from your phone.
If the battery is still attached, the phone can’t charge, and it won’t function.7.
Remove your iPhone.
Plug your phone into a new USB-B port on the computer.
If it still has battery, remove it.8.
Turn on your phone again.
If that doesn’t work, try unplugging the battery again and plugging it in again.9.
Use a third-party app to disable the app.
Disable the app and then disable your phone from using it.10.
Turn your phone back on.
If there are any notifications on the screen, try turning them off.11.
Disclose your phone to your family members.
If all goes well, your family will be able to see and use your iPhone, but it may not function normally if it has been disconnected.12.
Report the problem to Apple.
If Apple fixes the issue and makes the feature available again, your iPhone will be back up and running.
If not, you can report the problem here: www.apple.com/support/support-information.
